10 Ways to Relieve Stress During This Trying Time

The coronavirus has had an enormous impact on our society. You're likely being forced to stay at home so that you don't contract it. This is a stressful time for all of us, but we will get through it together.

1. Meditate.

Meditate for twenty minutes twice per day. This will help you stay grounded during this difficult time and collect your thoughts. It'll also help you be more present and more relaxed.

2. Practice yoga.

Practice yoga at least twice per week. If you're a beginner, you might want to try Yin yoga or restorative yoga. If you're in a city and are hesitant to go outside, there are certain types of yoga that count as aerobic activity and that strengthen your muscles. Yoga Journal i​s an excellent resource. You can take classes online or subscribe to their magazine.

3. Read inspiring material.

Right now, it's important to read inspiring material to remain positive. Read inspiring books. Subscribe to inspiring newsletters.

4. Soak in hot water.

Soaking in hot water is relaxing and good for your immune system. Take a hot Epsom salts bath in the privacy of your own home. Add a few drops of lavender oil into the tub and sip on some lavender tea.

5. Take nature walks.

It's unhealthy to stay inside all of the time, so, if possible, take walks outdoors. If you live in a city, you might want to take walks in a nearby park. If you live in a rural area, this is a good time to go bicycling and hiking.

6. Use this time to work on your passion project.

This is a great time to work on that book you've been wanting to write for years or learn how to sew. It will take your mind off of the state off of everything that's going on. You'll have time to finish any projects you start.

7. Catch up on your rest.

Use this time to catch up on your sleep. You'll get to sleep as much as you've been wanting to for months and finally feel rejuvenated. It's a good time to get all of the rest you haven't been able to for a while.

8. Watch inspiring movies.

Watch inspiring movies. They will help you think positively. It's important to be hopeful even during this very challenging time.

9. Limit your screen time.

If you can manage to while you're working, limit your screen time to a maximum of four hours per day. If you have to work on your computer for longer than that, you should at least take breaks.

10. Exercise

It's super important to keep doing aerobic activity during this time so that you can take care of yourself mentally and physically. Run or hike at least three times per week for thirty minutes per day. You can do this on an elliptical if you have one at home or go walking in a nearby park. You can also do aerobic yoga.

It's important to follow the procedures that have been enforced and remember that they're for our safety. It's much better for all of us to stay home and not risk spreading the virus than it is for us to go out in public and risk the safety of ourselves and others. Use this time as an opportunity for reflection and self-growth.
